2019 Graduating Students: Information you need to know!

SRJC Graduates

The Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Outdoor Stage in the Lawrence A. Bertolini Quad.

 

Cap & Gown

The SRJC Bookstores will carry Caps & Gowns for participants in the graduation ceremony beginning mid-April. Announcements will also be available.
 

Name Cards for Graduation Participation

Students planning to participate in SRJC’s annual commencement ceremony must fill out the online Graduation Participation Form. The link to the form is contained within your 2019 Graduation Ceremony Invitation which is found under personal announcements in your student portal

 

Photo Request Cards

When purchasing your cap and gown at the Bookstore, be sure to complete a photo request card.  After graduation, you will be able to access photos online, via a third party vendor at www.gradimages.com or by calling 800-261-2576. You must fill out the Name Card at the SRJC Bookstore, even if you already have your own cap and gown.

 

Ceremony and Line-up

The Graduation Ceremony (for which there is NO rehearsal) will be held on the Santa Rosa campus at the outdoor stage located in the Lawrence A. Bertolini quad.  Participants should check in at the north entrance of Tauzer Gym by 8:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 in your cap & gown. Your Name Card will be returned to you at check in (if you have not filled one out, be sure to do so at that time).  Students will be asked to keep Name Cards with them as they form double file lines along the west side of Garcia Hall extending south toward Tauzer Gym.

 

Seating

Students will follow faculty to their seats in double rows. Ushers (faculty or staff members) will be present to assist students and staff. Please pay close attention & follow instructions regarding seating. There are no tickets required to attend this event. Seating for guests is first-come, first-served.

 

Special Accommodations

Call the V.P. Student Services Office, (707) 524-1651 no later than Friday, May 17, 2019 to request special accommodations for guest seating. A loading/unloading zone for disabled and elderly persons will be available in Burbank Circle near Pioneer Hall. Graduates in need of special accommodations should also to call
(707) 524-1651 by Friday, May 17th.

 

Diplomas

Graduates shall rise one row at a time, file to the      front of  the stage, and present their Name Card to the two members of the college staff who will alternate reading the student names and other information from the card.  Graduates shall then move across to the President of the College and the President of the Board of Trustees from whom they will receive their diploma case* and a handshake.  Students shall follow the direction of ushers to return to their seats.  Ushers will be located nearby to direct students through this process so do not be concerned. 
We have not lost anyone yet! 
 
* Diplomas will be mailed in the summer to qualified degree recipients.  Verification of your degree is available at the Admissions and Records Office after grade processing for Spring Semester.

 

In Case of Inclement Weather 

In the event of rainy weather, the Graduation 
Ceremony will take place as planned.  Please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella. Also, be prepared for hot weather and bring a water bottle if needed.

 

Parking

All lots are open and parking is free on graduation day.  Be sure to take advantage of the Zumwalt Parking Pavilion at the corner of Mendocino and Pacific Avenues.  Disabled parking will be located on the first floor of the parking garage, the south side of Burbank Auditorium and behind Bailey Field. Burbank Circle is a drop-off only zone for disabled and elderly persons.

Tips to Share with your Guests for an Enjoyable Graduation Experience:

•    Arrive early.


•    Guest seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.


•    Guests are asked to please remain seated during the ceremony to avoid blocking the view of those seated behind.


•    Aisles must be kept clear at all times, but especially during the Processional and Recessional.


•    Please remember that SRJC is a smoke-free environment.


•    Only service animals are permitted on campus.
