Identity verification requirements for SRJC Applicants

The Chancellor’s Office now requires all domestic applicants, including high school students and undocumented students, to complete identity verification when submitting their online application. If a student is unable to verify their identity online, they may either submit a Student Data Change Form or come in person to Admissions and Records with acceptable documentation to verify their identity.

Beginning August 11, applications will not be processed until the student’s identity has been successfully verified.

Acceptable Forms of Identification

Applicants selected for identity verification may be asked to provide one or more of the following forms of identification:

  • State-issued driver's license
  • State-issued identification card
  • U.S. passport
  • Foreign passport
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Military identification card
  • Tribal identification card
  • Another government-issued photo ID approved by the College

Alternative Documentation

If an applicant does not have a traditional form of identification, the College may accept one or more of the following documents to verify identity:

  • High school identification card
  • Current or former school records
  • Consular identification card
  • Foreign identification document
  • Matricula Consular card
  • Employment identification card
  • Verification from a government agency
  • Public assistance documentation
  • Shelter verification letter
  • Verification from a homeless services provider
  • Verification from a local educational agency homeless liaison
  • Verification from a foster youth program
  • Verification from a social worker or case manager
  • Documentation from refugee, immigrant, or community-based service organizations
  • Other documentation determined to be sufficient by the Admissions and Records Office

All identification documents are subject to review for authenticity and may be rejected if they are determined to be fraudulent. Verifying a student’s identity does not simply mean confirming that the student appears in person. Students must provide an acceptable form of official identification from the list above.
