MOVEit Cyber Incident Notice

A file transfer software called MOVEit, owned by Progress Software, was part of a global cyber-attack in May 2023. Santa Rosa Junior College is not a MOVEit customer, and our college systems, networks and business operations have not been directly affected.

However, the National Student Clearinghouse advised us that it was part of the global attack. The National Student Clearinghouse provides degree verification and enrollment verification for thousands of universities and colleges in the U.S., including SRJC. Because of this, some SRJC student information was accessed. Progress Software is currently not aware of any indications of identity theft or fraud in relation to this event for SRJC. The data breach involving SRJC student information involved name-only information, and no other personally identifiable data.

We take information security very seriously at SRJC. We know that protecting student data is important and regret that this happened. While we do not believe any financial, personal, or sensitive information was compromised, SRJC encourages you to take precautions such as monitoring your accounts and credit history for signs of unauthorized activity. And, while no passwords were exposed, it is always a good idea to regularly change your account passwords. If you have questions about this incident, please contact Kevin Snyder, SRJC’s Senior Director, Information Technology, at ksnyder@santarosa.edu.
